Making a payment to the Canada Revenue Agency is now easier and more convenient than ever. The CRA has recently expanded the payment methods they accept.
Pay by online banking
Pay your individual taxes to the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) through your financial institution’s online banking, the same way you pay your phone or hydro bill. You can also pay CRA business taxes online from a business bank account. Be sure to provide accurate information to help the CRA apply your payment to the intended individual or business account.
Pay by debit card
My Payment is an electronic payment service offered by the CRA that uses Visa® Debit, Debit MasterCard® or Interac® Online for individuals and businesses to make payments directly to the CRA using their bank access cards. The CRA does not charge a fee for using the My Payment service. Please note that direct credit cards payments to the CRA are still not accepted.
Pay by credit card or PayPal
You can use a third-party service provider that offers payment by credit card or PayPal. The third-party service provider will send your business or individual payment and remittance details online to the CRA for you. Third-party service providers charge a fee for their services.
Pay by pre-authorized debit
You can set up a pre-authorized debit agreement and eliminate the need for postdated cheques. Pre-authorized debit (PAD) is a secure, online, self-service payment option for individuals and businesses. This option lets you set the payment amount you authorize the CRA to withdraw from your Canadian chequing account to pay your taxes on a date, or dates, you choose.
Pay by cash or debit card
You can pay your Individual tax, Benefits and credits repayments, Part XIII – non resident withholding tax, source deductions, T2 corporation tax, or GST/HST payments to the CRA in person with cash or debit card at any Canada Post outlet across Canada for a fee. To do so you will need a self-generated quick response (QR) code. This QR code will be personalized by you and will contain information that will allow the CRA to credit your account. QR codes are now being included on various individual tax remittance vouchers, with more vouchers to be updated at a later date.
Pay by a service provider
You may be able to make a payment through a service provider who will send your business or individual payment and remittance details online to the CRA. Keep in mind third-party providers charge a fee for their service. Third-party providers include the following:
- ADP (source deductions and NSWCB)
- Blue Canvas (source deductions)

Pay at your Canadian financial institution
To make a payment at your Canadian financial institution, you need a personalized remittance voucher. Financial institutions will not accept photocopies of remittance vouchers or payment forms. Be sure to provide accurate information to help the Canada Revenue Agency apply your payment to the intended account. A personalized remittance voucher will help us apply your payment properly. You can request personalized remittance vouchers online or by phone.
Pay by wire transfer for non-residents
Non-residents, who do not have a Canadian bank account, can make a payment by using a wire transfer. All wire transfers must be in Canadian dollars.
Pay by cheque
You can make a payment to the CRA with a personal cheque from your Canadian bank account. Make the cheque payable to the Receiver General for Canada and mail it to the address on the back of your remittance voucher. If you do not have a remittance voucher, write your Social Insurance Number, Business Number or the Non-Resident tax withholding account number in the memo field.
